Racism in Italy The European directive 115/2008, which was to be enacted in our country by December 24, 2010, governs the procedures for repatriation of foreign nationals unlawfully present in the territory of member states. This directive is in stark contrast to the Bossi-Fini law, especially the part about the "crime of illegal immigration, forcing our police to arrest those who currently possess a valid residence permit, failing to comply with the order of expulsion.
Italy was in default, not having made the necessary changes to the text only, but the European directive may only be brought before the Italian courts. But the problem remains, despite the move by the Chief of Police in branched Quaestors and prefects which calls for the implementation of the key points of the EU directive. So, locally, some have thought to act independently. The Attorney Joseph Quattrocchi Florence and the chief prosecutor of Genoa, Vincent School, describe the procedure to follow: no more indiscriminate arrests of foreigners found without a residence, but merely a complaint to the court, which will have the task of assessing case case for the necessity of the measure term.
